- The electrical system provides 28-volt DC power through two engine-driven 300-amp starter-generators operating in a parallel bus configuration. A 30-amp-hour battery supplies power for engine start and serves as limited backup in flight.
- System management is fully automatic.
- If one generator fails, nonessential equipment will shed automatically to preserve power for essential systems: The vapor cycle air conditioning system will turn off and the electric windshield heat, if selected, will protect only one anti-ice zone per side.
- All electrical controls are located on the left section of the cockpit panel, with system status displayed on the MFD.
- An external power port is available under the right engine for GPU starts.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SWITCHES
Battery Switch
- Location: Pilot DC POWER sub panel.
- Positions: OFF, BATT, EMER.
- Functions:
- OFF: Battery isolated from all buses except the emergency power CB bus.
- BATT: Connects battery to crossfeed bus; normal operating position.
- EMER: Connects emergency buses directly to the battery bus, for essential systems only.
*The emergency busses simulation is simplified in v1.0.
Avionics Standby Instrument Switch
- Location: Avionics switch panel.
- Positions: STBY INST / OFF / BATT TEST.
- Functions:
- STBY INST: Powers standby instruments and whiskey compass light from standby battery.
- OFF: Disconnects standby battery.
- BATT TEST: Performs capacity check (green = pass).
*BATT TEST is not simulated in version v1.0
Generator Switches (Left and Right)
- Location: Pilot DC POWER sub panel.
- Positions: GEN / OFF / RESET.
- Functions:
- GEN: Allows GCU to close generator relay thus connects generator to feed bus.
- OFF: Opens generator relay.
- RESET: Spring-loaded position to re-energize generator field after a fault.
Engine Start Buttons (Left / Right)
- Location: Pilot ENGINE START sub panel.
- Function: Closes the start relay to power the starter from the battery or GPU.
- Indication: White light in button = relay closed (starter engaged).
- DISENG button between them manually opens start circuit to abort start.
Battery Disconnect Switch (Guarded)
- Location: Above pilot’s left armrest, side console.
- Positions: NORM / BATTERY (disconnect).
- Function: Opens battery ground via the battery disconnect relay (isolates battery from aircraft power).
- Use: Emergency only (battery overheat or stuck start relay).
- Notes: Operates only if the main Battery Switch is in BATT position.
Interior Disconnect Switch
- Location: Pilot side console.
- Positions: NORM / DISCONNECT (UP).
- Function: Opens master interior relay, removing power from cabin systems (lighting, fans, outlets).
- Notes: Cockpit and flight systems unaffected.
