Master Warning System

The master and warning systems alert the crew to aircraft system malfunctionsunsafe operating conditions requiring immediate action, and specific system operations that demand crew awareness.

In addition to visual indications, aural alerts provide supplementary warning cues.

The VSKYLABS VSL 510X-VLJ master warning system is designed based on the Mustang master warning system architecture. However, it is not a direct replica and it is simplified in various aspects.

Primary components:

  • A pair of MASTER WARNING and MASTER CAUTION lights.
  • The Crew Alerting System (CAS). CAS messages are presented on the G1000 Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) display.
  • Aural warnings for various systems and specific conditions.

CAS Message Types:

  • Red (Warning) Messages.
  • Amber (Caution) Messages.
  • White (Advisory) Messages:
    • Abnormal condition
    • Change in status of an aircraft system
    • Normal operation of a specific device

Crew Alerting System (CAS) Messages

The following CAS messages are fully implemented and modeled into the VSL 510X-VLJ simulation:

🔴 GEN OFF L-R……Failure of both generators.

🔴 OIL PRESS LO L-R……Oil pressure below minimum for both engines.

🔴 OIL PRESS LO L……Oil pressure below minimum for left engine.

🔴 OIL PRESS LO R……Oil pressure below minimum for right engine.

🟡 AFT DOOR……Tail-cone baggage door not closed or secured.

🟡 CABIN DOOR……Cabin door not closed or secured.

🟡 FUEL LVL LO L-R……Fuel level in either tank low – below ≈ 170 lb / 25 gal.

🟡 FUEL LVL LO L……Fuel level in left tank low – below ≈ 170 lb / 25 gal.

🟡 FUEL LVL LO R……Fuel level in right tank low – below ≈ 170 lb / 25 gal.

🟡 GEN OFF L……Left generator off-line.

🟡 GEN OFF R……Right generator off-line.

🟡 NOSE DOOR L-R……One or both nose baggage doors not closed or secured.

🟡 NOSE DOOR L……Left baggage door not closed or secured.

🟡 NOSE DOOR R……Right baggage door not closed or secured.

🟡 P/S HTR L-R……No current detected to pitot-static heater.

🟡 STALL WARN HTR……power to stall-warning heater.

🟡 STALL WARN FAIL……Failure detected in stall-warning system.

🟡 ANTISKID FAIL……Fault in antiskid system – deactivate antiskid.

🟡 FLAPS FAIL……Flap-system failure.

⚪ FUEL BOOST L-R……Both fuel-boost pumps operating.

⚪ FUEL BOOST L……Left fuel-boost pump operating.

⚪ FUEL BOOST R……Right fuel-boost pump operating.

⚪ FUEL TRANSFER……Fuel-transfer valve open.

⚪ STALL WARN HI……Stall-warning system operating.

⚪ NO TIRE SPINDOWN……Antiskid spindown function inoperative.

🟡 ENG A/I COLD L-R……Engine-inlet temperature below safe level for anti-ice protection.

🟡 PRESS OFF……No bleed-air flow to pressurize cockpit or cabin.
